Job Summary
Type of Appointment :Special All Inclusive - 6 months with the possibility of extension.
Description
General Functions:
Under the direct supervision of the Emergency and Reintegration Unit (ERU) Program Officer and overall guidance of the ERU Coordinator in Harare, the Program Assistant will be responsible for providing support to vulnerable populations in Zimbabwe
In particular, he /she will be responsible for the following activities:
Contribute to the development of overall early recovery programmes supporting vulnerable population to transition towards durable solutions, with a particular focus on agricultural-based interventions such as sustainable farming systems, income generating activities, market linkages, micro- finance and micro-entrepreneurship.
Manage a portfolio of Implementing Partner (IP) grants focused on facilitating the transition of vulnerable population towards durable solutions through sustainable livelihood interventions.
Conduct ongoing capacity assessment and training needs analysis of new and existing IPs who are selected as I0M grantees and provide appropriate capacity building.
Provide ongoing assistance to IPs on program design, planning and implementation of livelihoods projects including beneficiary selection criteria per project and implementation strategies.
Administer monitoring of IP projects in different stages of implementation providing technical assistance where needed and solving problems as they arise, and participate in compliance and monitoring visits in accordance with the agreed.
Identify opportunities to strengthen market linkages, analyze the strengths and weaknesses of such opportunities and engage prospective and
current IPs with recommendations that meets targeted communities' needs.
Represent I0M in Agricultural Cluster and the necessary thematic area in the ZUNDAF initiative.
Compile IP reports, provide technical input into various external reports, and assist management in preparing for donor.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements
Desired qualifications:
(Education, experience and competencies):
Education and experience:
A university degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Environmental Sciences, or any other agriculture related field.
Minimum of 3 years experience in agriculture related works involving disadvantaged communities.
Knowledge and experience in project monitoring and evaluation.
Experience in managing multiple partner grants, coordination across different levels of stakeholders including the private sector and government departments.
Experience in NGOs, International Organisations or other related institutions.

Ability to work independently and under pressure, and produce concrete results.
Experience in the usage of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and knowledge of spreadsheet and data analysis is added advantage.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written communications skills of English are a prerequisite
