The International Committee of the Red Cross Regional Delegation, Harare (Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe) invites applications from qualified Zimbabwean nationals for the position of Field Officer.
Description
Key Responsibilities:
Communication/dissemination:
Represent the ICRC in any circumstances, to explain the mandate of the institution, its working modalities and its activities in the country particularly in the area of responsibilities.
Disseminate the ICRC mandate to different audiences in a professional and standard way.
Contribute to the relevant institutional communication tools such as the newsletter, the FAQ and answers, etc.
Communicate and explain the basic rules of IHL/lIHRL to the relevant interlocutors/stakeholders when necessary.
Networking:
Assist the Head of Sub-Delegation(HoSD) to establish and maintain a stakeholders mapping for the Sub-delegation, which includes authorities, national and international NGOs representatives, journalists and media workers.
Entertain and develop a network of interlocutors, stakeholders journalists, media workers and bloggers for the Sub-delegation in the area of responsibilities.
Maintain contact with the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society and have a good knowledge of their activities at provincial and local levels (chapters and branches)
Contribute to the written institutional reporting of all the meetings with the interlocutors/stakeholders of the Sub-delegation.
Assists the HoSD:
Provide relevant information to the HoSD that can influence or affect positively or negatively the ICRC operations in the area of responsibilities; prepares analysis and provides recommendations in consequence.
Participate actively to the internal discussion of the Sub-delegation on the evolution of the situation.
Represent the HoSD in any official/formal meeting in his absence.
Provide support to the delegates and Field Officers upon request on any relevant information they might be interested in.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
University degree
6 years' work experience in a similar field
Good communication skills
Good analytical skills
Must be able to work independently
Fluent in written and spoken English, Ndebele and Shona
Excellent knowledge of the geographically assigned environment (Matebeleland North and South, Midlands and Masvingo Provinces)
Very good computer skills
