Welthungerhilfe (WHH) is a PVO organisation (PVO 21/2003) and has been operating in Zimbabwe since 2003. The organisation has signed a contract with an Austrian Organisation, Unito Versand und Dienstleistungen to implement a WASH project in Gokwe South. The project will undertake the construction and rehabilitation of WASH infrastructure in 20 schools as well as health and hygiene promotion activities. WHH therefore seeks to recruit for the following positions within the project

The Head of Project will be responsible for the management and monitoring of the project to ensure that planned activities are implemented in a timely, efficient and cost effective manner, guided by the Grant Agreement.
The Head of Project will perform the following duties:
- lead the project according to the co-financing agreement and Welthungerhilfe’s standards for the implementation of projects. Activities include the following (borehole rehabilitation and construction, rehabilitation/construction of sanitation facilities, facilitation of health promotion activities and establishment of community structures to ensure project sustainability)
- coordinate day to day project management - planning, implementation and monitoring to meet expected outputs
- ensure timely preparation of project accounts and financial reports in line with Welthungerhilfe standards and donor regulations
- ensure accountability of all funds received for project implementation
- approve project purchases according to the approved procurement budget and inventory control
- prepare status reports according to Welthungerhilfe standards or the rules of donors
- manage the WASH team human resources and provide technical support, training and capacity building
- represent Welthungerhilfe externally and collaborate/coordinate with local authorities, counterparts, partners and stakeholders
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required
- Degree in Public Health, Water Resource Management, Development Studies or related field. A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Project Management, preferably in an NGO environment
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Computer skills in various MS Office applications, including any project management software/application
- Clean class 4 driver’s licence
