1.        Faculty Of Veterinary Science

1.1      Department Of Clinical Veterinary Studies(6 Posts)


1.1.1.  Professorship ( 1 Post)

Applicants should have a PhD with specialization in Veterinary Science. The successful candidate will be expected to provide academic leadership in teaching, research and development, liaise and communicate effectively with collaborative partners and supervise post-graduate students in theirareas of specialization. The duties of the successful candidate will also include conducting clinical rounds, case presentations, attending to patients, teaching and supervision of research projects to undergraduate and postgraduate students. In terms of research output, the candidate is expected to have a minimum of 35 internationally recognized publications/journal articles.


1.1.2.  Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor


(a) Small Animal Medicine and Surgery (1 Post) 

Applicants should hold a PhD in Veterinary Science, a good Masters degree in Veterinary Science and a relevant foundation degree registrable with the Council of Veterinary Surgeons are a must. Possession of relevant clinical and research experience is also a must. The successful candidate will be expected to do clinical rounds and case presentations, attending to patients, teaching Small Animal Medicine and Surgery to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The candidate will also be expected to supervise research projects to undergraduate and postgraduate students, carry out research and demonstrate ability to publish research findings.


(b) Porcine Medicine (1 Post)

Applicants should hold a PhD in Veterinary Science, a good Masters degree in Veterinary Science and a relevant foundation degree registrable with the Council of Veterinary Surgeons are a must. Possession of relevant clinical and research experience is also a must. The successful candidate will be expected to do student rounds, clinical case presentations, be involved in the Clinic, go to ambulatory visits and to teach Porcine Medicine to undergraduate and postgraduate students and to supervise student research projects. The candidate will also be expected to superviseundergraduate and postgraduate students, carry out research and demonstrate ability to publish research findings.


(c) Poultry Medicine (1 Post)

Applicants should hold a PhD in Veterinary Science, a good Masters degree in Veterinary Science a relevant foundation degree registrable with the Council of Veterinary Surgeons are a must. of relevant clinical and research experience is also a must. The successful candidate will be expected to do clinical rounds, clinical case presentations, surgery, students rounds and to Poultry Medicine to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The candidate will also be to supervise research projects to undergraduate and postgraduate students, carry out research and demonstrate ability to publish research findings.


(d) Theriogenology (Obstetrics and Reproduction) (1 Post)

Applicants should hold a PhD in Veterinary Science, a good Masters degree in Veterinary Science and a relevant foundation degree registrable with the Council of Veterinary Surgeons are a must. Possession of relevant clinical and research experience is also a must. The successful candidate will be expected to do clinical rounds, clinical case presentations, students rounds, ambulatory visits and to teach Veterinary Reproduction and Obstetrics to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The candidate will also be expected to supervise research projects to undergraduate and postgraduate students, carry out research and demonstrate ability to publish research findings.

(e) Equine Medicine and Surgery

Applicants should hold a PhD in Veterinary Science, a good Masters degree in Veterinary Science and a relevant foundation degree registrable with the Council of Veterinary Surgeons are a must. Possession of relevant clinical and research experience is also a must. The successful candidate will be expected to do clinical rounds, clinical case presentations, attending to patients, ambulatory visits and to teach Equine Medicine and Surgery to undergraduate and postgraduate students. The candidate will also be expected to supervise research projects to undergraduate and postgraduatestudents, carry out research and demonstrate ability to publish research findings.


1.2. Department Of Preclinical Veterinary Studies (3 Posts)

(a) Veterinary Biochemistry (1 Post)

Applicants should hold a PhD in Veterinary Science/ Medicine or Biochemistry, a good Masters degree in Biochemistry and a relevant foundation degree registrable with the Council of Veterinary Surgeons are a must. The successful candidate will teach Veterinary Biochemistry to undergraduate and postgraduate students and to supervise student research projects, In addition, the candidate will be expected to initiate research in the field of Biochemistry and produce publications.

(b) Veterinary Anatomy (1 Post)

Applicants should hold a PhD in Veterinary Science/ Medicine or Anatomy,a good Masters degree in Veterinary Anatomy and a relevant foundation degree registrable with the Council of Veterinary Surgeons are a must. Possession of relevant clinical and research experience is also a must. Thesuccessful candidate will teach Veterinary Anatomy to undergraduate and postgraduate students and to supervise student research projects. In addition, the candidate will be expected to initiate research in the field of Anatomy and produce publications.


(c) Veterinary Physiology (1 Post)

Applicants should hold a PhD in Veterinary Science/ Medicine or Physiology, a good Masters degree in Veterinary Physiology and a relevant foundation degree registrable with the Council of Veterinary Surgeons are a must. A proven record in teaching and research will be an addedadvantage. The successful candidate will teach Veterinary Physiology to undergraduate and postgraduate students and to supervise student research projects. In addition, the candidate will be expected to initiate research in the field of Physiology and produce publications.


1.3.Department Of Paraclinical Veterinary Studies (8 Posts)

(a) Veterinary Pathology (3 Posts)

The applicant should have a PhD/DPhil in Veterinary Pathology registrable with the Council of Veterinary Surgeons of Zimbabwe. A candidate with a good Masters degree may be considered. The successful candidate will teach Veterinary Pathology to both undergraduate and postgraduatestudents, and should carry out research in the relevant discipline. The candidate will also be expected to participate in students clinical rounds, supervise student research projects and conduct research and produce publications and to be involved in University community service.


(b) Veterinary Parasitology (2 Posts)

The applicant should have a PhD/DPhil in Veterinary Parasitology registrable with the Council of Veterinary Surgeons of Zimbabwe. A candidate with a good Masters degree may be considered. The successful candidate will teach Veterinary Parasitology to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, and should carry out research in the relevant discipline. The candidate will also be expected to participate in students clinical rounds, supervise student research projects and conduct research and produce publications and to be involved in University community service.


(c) Veterinary Pharmacology (1 Post)

The applicant should have a PhD/DPhil in Veterinary Pharmacology registrable with the Council of Veterinary Surgeons of Zimbabwe. A candidate with a good Masters degree may be considered. The successful candidate will teach Veterinary Pharmacology and Clinical veterinary Pharmacology to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, and should carry out research in the relevant discipline. The candidate will also be expected to participate in students clinical rounds, supervise student research projects and conduct research and produce publications and to be involved in University community service.


(d) Veterinary Toxicology (1 Post)

The applicant should have a PhD/DPhil in Veterinary Toxicology registrable with the Council Veterinary Surgeons of Zimbabwe. A candidate with a good Masters degree may be considered.The successful candidate will teach Veterinary Toxicology to both undergraduate an postgraduate students, and should carry out research in the relevant discipline. The candidate Will also be expected to participate in students clinical rounds, supervise student research projects an conduct research and produce publications and to be involved in University community service.


(e) Veterinary Microbiology (1 Post)

The applicant should have a PhD/DPhil in Veterinary Toxicology registrable with the Council Veterinary Surgeons of Zimbabwe. A candidate with a good Masters degree may be considered The successful candidate will teach Veterinary Microbiology to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, and should carry out research in the relevant discipline. The candidate will also be expected to participate in students clinical rounds, supervise student research projects and conduct research and produce publications and to be involved in University community service.



2.              Faculty Of Science

2.1.       Department Of Chemistry

2.1.1.  Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor(9 Posts)


(a) Physical Chemistry (3 Posts)

The applicant should have a PhD/DPhil in Physical Chemistry, a good Masters degree in Physical Chemistry and relevant foundation degrees are a must. The successful candidate will teach Physical Chemistry to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervise research projects, and should carry out research and produce publications in the relevant discipline.


(b) Inorganic Chemistry (3 Posts)

The applicant should have a PhD/DPhil in Inorganic Chemistry. A good Masters degree in Inorganic Chemistry and a relevant foundation degree are a must. The successful candidate will teach Inorganic Chemistry to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervise research projects, and should carry out research and produce publications in the relevant discipline.


(c) Organic Chemistry (3 Posts)

The applicant should have a PhD/DPhil in Organic Chemistry. A good Masters degree in Organic Chemistry and a relevant foundation degree are a must. The successful candidate will teach Organic Chemistry to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervise research projects, and should carry out research and produce publications in the relevant discipline. 


3.       University Of Zimbabwe School Of Technology

3.1.1.  Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor(4 Posts)

(a) Networking Engineering(1 Post)

Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science 0 Electrical Engineering, a good Masters degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering and a relevant foundation degree are a must. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Networking Engineering at Certificate, Diploma and Degree levels. The candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate students in research projects, carry out research and demonstrate ability to publish research findings. Knowledge of Software Engineering and Hardware Engineering will be an added advantage


(b) Hardware Engineering (2 Posts)

Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, a good Masters degree Computer Science or Electrical Engineering and a relevant foundation degree are a must. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Hardware Engineering at Certificate, Diploma and Degree levels. The candidate will also be expected to supervise research projects to undergraduate students, carry out research and demonstrate ability to publish research findings. Knowledge of Software Engineering and Networking Engineering will be an added advantage


(c) Software Engineering (1 Post)

Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, a good Masters degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering and a relevant foundation degree are a must. Knowledge of current software trends in industry at International level is required. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Software Engineering at Certificate, Diploma and Degree levels. The candidate will also be expected to supervise research projects to undergraduate students, carry out research and demonstrate ability to publish research findings. Knowledge of Hardware and Networking Engineering will be an added advantage.


(d) Information Technology and Business Course (2 Posts)

Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science or Business Studies, a good Masters degree in Computer Science or Business Studies and a relevant foundation degree are a must. Knowledge of current software trends in industry at International levels required. The successful candidate willbe expected to teach Information Technology at Certificate, Diploma and Degree levels. The candidate will also be expected to supervise research projects to undergraduate students, carry out research and demonstrate ability to publish research findings. Knowledge of Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering and Networking Engineering will be an added advantage.
