Job Summary
ZEP-RE (PTA Reinsurance Company) is a specialized institution of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) established to service and develop the needs of the insurance and reinsurance industry within the Region. We are seeking a high calibre and results-oriented professional to create growth, capacity, and competitive advantage in our business in the capacity of UNDERWRITER at our Harare Office.
The role
Reporting to the Country Manager, the Underwriter will assist in effecting the mandate of the office in all aspects of Reinsurance business. He/She will specifically:
Marketing of the company products and services;
Underwrite new and renewal treaty and facultative reinsurance business;
Responsibility for treaty and facultative business administration which would include inter alia checking facultative and treaty wordings, cover notes, preparation of debit and credit notes etc.
Assist with pricing of treaty and facultative business .
Credit control
Assist with the preparation of regional and local market statistics.
Participate in company training initiatives for staff and clients; Perform any other duties as will be assigned from time to time
Requirements
The Preferred Candidate
The preferred candidate should have:
A degree from a recognized University with relevant insurance professional qualifications;
Diploma in Insurance with Insurance Institute of South Africa (lISA) or Chartered Institute of Insurance (CII) UK.
At least 5 years of reinsurance experience in an insurance/reinsurance company;
Excellent communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills;
IT Experience: Basic Knowledge of computers; Microsoft office 2003/07;
Networking, Email and Internet services;
Microsoft windows XP / Vista;
Must have worked with a modern Insurance or Reinsurance system especially in U/W, Claims and Technical Accounts;
experience of working with other Operating Systems like UNIX will be an added advantage
Knowledge of reinsurance operating systems - Knowledge of Sics Nt will be added advantage
