Job Information
MSF-OCA an international humanitarian medial organization is seeking to recruit a Mental Health Nurse and a Psychologist

1) Mental Health Nurse
Part of the specific responsibilities
- Co-ordinating care of patients with metal illness
- Liaising with the existing medical staff/fellow professionals, patients and relatives and attending regular meetings to review and monitor patients’ care plans
- Assessing patients’ behaviour and psychological needs, identifying whether and when patients are at risk of harming themselves or others
- Ensuring the correct administration of medication, including injections and monitoring the results of treatment
- Applying ‘de-escalation’ techniques to help people manage their emotions and behaviour
- Providing evidence-based individual therapy, such as cognitive behaviour therapy for depression and anxiety

Requirements
- Full and current registration as a mental health nurse with the Nurses’ Council of Zimbabwe
- At least 2 years’ experience as psychiatric nurse
- Good command of English and Shona

2) Psychologist
Part of the specific responsibilities
- Promote psychosocial program(s) activities (counseling, psycho-education, psychological support) to patients with mental health disorders in prison
- Assessing patients’ behaviour and psychological needs; identifying whether and when patients are at risks of harming themselves or others during activities
- Applying ‘de-escalation’ techniques to help people manage their emotions and behaviour
- Assist and encouraging patients to take part in art, drama or occupational therapy where appropriate
- Working with patients’ families and care giver, helping to educate them and the patient about their metal health problems
- Identify psycho-educational needs in prisons

Requirements
- Formal education in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy and 2 years’ post qualification in the related fields
- Demonstrable experience in training health personal and/or psycho-education
- Good command of English and Shona
