Organic Farming Project Officer

Purpose of the job

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Programme Officer the Project Officer will play a key role in the overall planning and implementation of the project.

Key responsibilities
Organising young people with disabilities into groups and provide training in organic farming methodologies including basic agro-ecological principles and methods, gender awareness and basic business planning and leadership skills; Ensure the provision of farming inputs ie vegetable seeds and planting material to the groups to engage in productive organic vegetable farming; Attend relevant stakeholders meetings on organic farming including establishing partnerships and exploring potential opportunities for scaling up the project; Develop a disability friendly organic farming manual for persons with disabilities (PwDs) and field staff and offer ongoing technical support. Required

Requirements
Qualifications and competencies

Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in agriculture and or agricultural economics or relevant field preferred; Prior 2 or 3 years working experience with organic farming projects or similar experience; Ability to organize and facilitate training at various levels; Experience working with persons with disabilities including those with intellectual disability will be an added advantage; Excellent Oral and written communication skills; Excellent interpersonal skills and team player
