The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to strengthening integrated health systems in the developing world and expanding access to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases. CHAI's solution-oriented approach focuses on improving market dynamics for medicines and diagnostics; lowering prices for treatment; accelerating access to life-saving technologies; and helping governments build the capacity required for high-quality care and treatment programs.

CHAI is seeking a dynamic and driven individual to fill the position of Senior Program Manager for its programs implemented in partnership with Zimbabwe's Ministry of Health and Child Care. The individual must have outstanding track record for achieving results through sound strategies.

Position Overview: Based in Harare, the Senior Program Manager will be responsible for the management, supervision and evaluation of Access Programs (Diagnostic Access, and Access to medicines programs), Sustainable Health Financing and HRH to achieve set objectives. The manager will work in liaison with global teams, donors and in-country partners as well as the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) to maintain strong relationships. As a member of the senior management team, the manager will participate in strategic planning and budgeting initiatives in addition to problem solving. The STA will work with the local team leads and global teams to look for new opportunities for program development and to respond to funding opportunities as they arise. He/she will work within the guidelines, policies and mission of the organization and will be accountable and responsible for the specific program activities.

Responsibilities: As a key representative of CHAI in Zimbabwe, the Senior Program Manager will:
Oversee and supervise the operational plans of Access program, Sustainable Health Financing, HRH and other new initiatives program activities, and continually identify opportunities for CHAI to add value and maximize impact
Provide ongoing mentorship and support to the program managers to ensure attainment of set goals and objectives
Work closely with the senior management team to chart the strategic direction of CHAI Zimbabwe's support to the MOHCC
Ensures timely feedback of program activities are reported to donors and other key partners as appropriate
Represents CHAI at stakeholders, partner organizations and donor meetings
Take the lead in day to day program activities with senior stakeholders and the Ministry of Health
Assist the teams in developing and managing budgets and work plans
Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, partner organizations and MOHCC partners, and development and implementation of comprehensive strategies;
Support fundraising efforts, including new program initiatives, budgeting and the development and management of relationships with existing and potential donors;
Analyze trends in the program activities, identifying issues and develop and recommend solutions to the senior management
Manage performance of the teams, evaluate and make recommendations to meet both individual and organizational goals.
Identify the gaps in staffing needs and make hiring recommendations of staff needed to support the expansion of program activities
Maintain a thorough understanding of the health landscape in Zimbabwe and the MOHCC's key priorities and challenges; share alternatives and solutions
All other duties as assigned

Qualifications: Required skills:
At least five years of work experience in a demanding, results-oriented environment, with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership in private sector or other similar fast paced public health environment;
Exceptional communications skills, both written and oral;
The ability to manage within sensitive political contexts and develop strong relationships;
Strong problem solving, analytical and quantitative skills, including fluency in Excel and Power point;
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, delegate and work independently;
Ability to mentor and lead teams for consistent performance;
Ability to work within limited budgets and human resources; -
Ability to secure cooperation and support from senior external partners / vendors
Strong work ethics and flexibility;
Strong mentor, manager, role model and team player who demands 100% performance from self and entire team.

Preferred Skills:
Experience managing teams in a demanding and fast paced environment.
