HEKS/EPER (Hilfswerk der Evangelischen Kirchen Schweiz/ Entraide Protestante Suisse) is the aid organisation of the Protestant Churches of Switzerland and has its headquarters in Zurich/Switzerland. HEKS/EPER gives humanitarian and emergency aid and fights the causes of hunger, injustice and social deprivation. HEKS/EPER has its own coordination offices in 20 key countries and 200 projects worldwide.

Background information on the HEKS/EPER Zimbabwe program
HEKS/EPER implements through its four local partner organisations currently four development projects in Matobo, Zimbabwe (WASH, agriculture, informal education).

Tasks & expected outcomes

- Represent HEKS/EPER in Zimbabwe
- Responsible for the operational implementation, coordination and monitoring of the HEKS/EPER country program in Zimbabwe
- Guide a small office of national personnel, general human resource management
- Support partner organizations in their organizational development and monitor the implementation of their projects
- Assure all administrative and financial responsibilities and processes
- Examine project proposals submitted by local partner organizations
- Examine possibilities for local fundraising and prepare project proposals for submission to HEKS/EPER HQ
- Liaise with authorities, UN agencies, international and local NGO's and communities
- Assist the Desk Officer in strategic development of the HEKS/EPER country program
- Support the headquarter for the purpose of fundraising

Competencies
The applicant must have the following professional qualifications and experiences:
- University degree in a technical discipline (agronomy, engineering, development)
- At least five years' work experience in a management position in a national or international NGO as well as field work experience, preferably in Zimbabwe
- Flexible, innovative and sensitive to cultural values
- Fluent in written and spoken English and in Ndebele
- Strong planning, presentation, communication and reporting skills
- Good analytical and leadership skills
- An in depth knowledge of the key issues and trends in development
